I am Back
I am back to the blog, I put it aside in the spring as the company I work for Network Integration Services Inc, was purchased by a competitor, and I was not sure of any issues that might have arouse from posting. So that is enough about the absence.
So lets get to the News.
First I have taken and passed my VCP5 late last year what a “Great Test”, this was not an easy test as two of the guys I work with that I would have bet would have passed it did not by the Feb 29 timeline, and will have to take the What’s New class to get certified. I also took and passed the EMC Cloud Architect Exam. So I have added both the VCP5 and EMCCA to the end of my signature.
Second, I have been working on a few things at work. We deployed EMC Atmos Object Storage in the data centers. We now have some large enterprise customers taking advantage of some of it as Archive, Secondary Copies for Backups with Commvault, and next week we will be bringing on a dedicated Enterprise Oxygen Appliance for a firm in Kansas City. This will allow there mobile workforce to sync there Laptops, and Mobile devices. Will Post more about the EMC Atmos on Monday.
Third, We have changed out our Rack Mount Servers for Cisco UCS Servers to run our VMware Infrastructure. This was a great project and one that made my brain cells work really hard. I have it good, by having some of the best network engineers and architects in the Kansas City area, but now that my server environment has been created by a network company, I have begun the journey to become more knowledgeable about Switching and Routing. Will post more next week, but I would like to say a special thanks to Jason Nash @TheJasonNash and TrainSignal for the training on UCS, It was perfect to get me on the ground and running.
So Please stay tuned for more to come Lots More.
Thanks Again for Visiting

VCAP-DCA
That was a crazy test, in terms of time management. I don’t think there was any question I did not know how to do. but I was not able to get through the test. 210 Minutes 34 questions no way, also the lab seems to me to not be setup correctly. My vMA kept telling me that it was moved or cloned, so it was useless. The other things was there was no Start Button, or “Alt+Tab” so if you minimized anything Adobe, VC, or RDP, you could not get it back. You had to open a new Session. I did not think about the fact, that after having 25 sessions open to VC would make VC start acting weird. So I had to close the Sessions so I could get VC to start acting right. As far as the questions go, it was a good mix on knowledge, though the environment was such that it did not make sense on the build. At one point I thought to myself, I wonder if I could rebuild the environment faster, then go back answer the questions. I hope I passed, I don’t really want to take it over, I am confident on the questions I answered, just not sure how the will weigh the questions, as far as partially correct or not complete so the answer is wrong. let you know when I get my results.
EMC Briefing
Wow, That was a crazy three day’s. Got to talk with Product Managers from the Atmos, Avamar, VNX, VPlex, and Isilon and even talked with the VCE Group. Some great info, it created a lot of interest, with the Owner of the Company. New toys coming soon, Avamar, and Atmos,
Going to Boston for EMC Partner Briefing
The company I work for, is getting the opportunity to travel to Boston next week, for an EMC Partner Briefing. I have been told that we get to see some cool new things, the LAB is supposed to be one of the coolest places to visit. I am excited to get my hands on the VNX material.
Scheduled my VCAP-VCA Exam
Well today I scheduled my exam, for the VCAP-DCA exam for April 11, Two days before my birthday. I think this is going to be fun getting ready for. I have been asked by my boss to expand the lab here at work. I have received, some new servers, fiber channel and Ethernet switches, and a EMC Storage array. Time to break it in.
